Drop shotting vs Mepps part 1
Posted by Lure Geek on 15th Dec 2014
Six of us headed off to the Grand Union Canal for a perch dropshotting vs mepps competition / experiment. The first two hours resulted in no fish until someone tried a plug and caught two perch and a pike in ten minutes.
For the next four hours we tried plugging, mepps, dropshotting and jigging little shads and imitation crayfish. Mepps and dropshotting was a waste of time in the end but plugging and plastics on jig heads produced well. About 15 perch, 5 pike, two big chub and a crayfish caught.
What did we learn from the experiment? We were right about needing lure boxes full of a variety of lures to use depending on what works on the day.
